Ready your rod

There are few fishing destinations in the world that rival Newfoundland and Labrador. Because there are more species, more often, in more places around here than anywhere else in Canada. Lucky for you, most of these places are easily accessible.

If you think the landscape is wild, wait until you hook one of these

Catches that can weigh in at 30 pounds. World-record landlocked salmon and Arctic char. Wild brook trout weighing up to eight pounds. Better hope that your arms don't get tired.

When you're ready to give your rod a workout, there are literally hundreds of rivers and lakes that have never felt the cast of a line - with big fish ready to bite, like huge wild Atlantic salmon, record-breaking landlocked salmon, brook and lake trout, Arctic char, northern pike, and whitefish.

Newfoundland and Labrador is home to over 60% of Atlantic salmon rivers in North America. Some of our rivers have annual runs of 30,000 fish, making this the best place to fight their acrobatic jumps and lightning fast swimming. Did we mention that the Labrador Current makes the Atlantic Salmon fight harder? Wild is an understatement.

Check out the links to your left for more information on fishing in Newfoundland and Labrador. They don't call it the best fishing on the planet for nothing!

Add some local colour

Our friendly outfitters know this place inside and out. After a successful day in the woods, they're bound to share a few stories over a drink and a hearty meal back at the lodge. So grab your gear, and get ready for a real trophy adventure – before everyone finds out about one of the world's best kept secrets. For more information about outfitters and hunting packages, visit the Newfoundland & Labrador Outfitters Association (NLOA) website.
