Hunting Black Bear in Newfoundland and Labrador (Big Game Hunting) Newfoundland and Labrador is also big black bear country. Here, black bears tend to be bigger than those on the North American mainland. Biologists believe this is due to a genetic predisposition toward larger size and traditionally low hunting pressure. One bear weighed in at a certified 687 pounds. Over 10,000 black bears provide more opportunities for a superb trophy. In Newfoundland and Labrador, there are two hunting seasons for black bear, spring and fall, and hunters can use either rifle or bow. For a list of Black Bear Outfitters click here. |
