Hop on and rev your engine high. Take off into the winding trails, wind pushing against your body. Feet warm by the heat of the machine. Body crouched. Flying wildly over the snowy bumps, launching forth into the white.
Excitement or relaxation. The snowmobile is the finest mode of transportation in the winter world. Here, you can pack your things and ride for a few hours or a few days. On your own or with a guide, our groomed, marked snowmobile trails will lead you through the province.
On our island of Newfoundland, an extensive trail system is expanding continuously. Take a ride through wide-open backcountry and old woodcutting roads now used for winter adventure riding. Explore the 900-kilometre trail across the island that follows the path of the former Canadian National Railway. On this course walled with fragrant evergreen trees, ponds, and coastline, imagine yourself as a train engineer from decades past, touring through the wilderness.
At the St. Lawrence River, ride into Labrador on a 3,220 kilometre loop and head up from Baie Comeau. A few thousand kilometres of trails awaits riders further north. Labrador is unbelievable, with its massive caribou herds and sweeping tundra, heavy snowfall, and untouched forests. This is a snowmobiler’s paradise. Drop some lines in the pond along the way and have fresh mouthwatering trout for supper. At night, ride by the shifting glow of the spectacular Northern Lights.
Ride the edges of a glacier-carved fjord, spot icebergs along the coast, follow river valleys, skirt hills, or trails originally formed by the aboriginal people and early settlers. Our powdery trails lead to fascinating areas, such as L’Anse aux Meadows where the Vikings landed over a thousand years ago. The ancient mountains ranging all along Newfoundland’s West Coast stand at an approximate height of 100 metres - offering a fun and easily accessible ride.
Pass though our communities and be amazed at what a blanket of snow can do. Stop and take the time to have a boil-up, letting the heat from the fire take the chill out of your bones. Let a warm meal and drink prepare you for the rest of your journey.
One of the best ways to see the province is with someone who knows the land. Taking a guided tour guarantees a great route for beginners and experts alike, the comfort of accommodations, and the ability to take the whole family. Visit us between December and May – we’ll take you for the ride of your life.
